Low-cost and high quality child care is a key privilege that is normally given priority in our daily dealings in the society. The article argues against this mode of life in the society. It highlights clearly the need for equality in all the child care involvement procedures. Child care is not an issue that needs to be a privilege only to those with finances, but a social amenity that each child must have access to at any given time.
The call for the parents to be given a significant period of leave is an idea that I strongly support especially when considering the mother. This leave will enable her to give all the necessary attention required for the child at the early stage as this forms the foundation of his/her entire life. The paid leave will in turn motivate the parent in all their undertakings as they are able to fully cater for needs of the child without straining to acquire more resources needed for the child up taking.
The role of government in setting up policies that promote parental time with children versus high quality organized care. The process of setting these policies is a vital idea by the government in relation to the child care up-bringing as they form the bulk of the future generation. According to Clawson& Gerstel, these policies have a great impact on the promotion of gender equality among the children as it forms a foundation that unites the whole generation. The United States has set programs that sponsor the child care education at an early stage freely to ensure each child has access to basic knowledge. However, working parents still prefer paying for their children while undertaking on the basic education. The policies on parent leave have both been supported and argued against by many as the scheme over time has been thought to be favoring the female gender (Cheney, 1989).
