Personality Disorder

According to the American psychiatric association, personality disorders occur as an enduring pattern of behavior. It is derive from various expectations of cultures which are like pervasive and inflexible and deficit that can be stable at times. According to Heather Castillo (2003: 87), personality disorder has generating moral panic among the societies. Clinically personality disorder is known as to be timid and dangerous. There are different types of personality disorders that affect human beings in there day to day lives. Personality disorder is a long-term (chronic) condition that is caused by people who depend on others for emotional and physical support or needs.

Dependent personality disorder starts at a childhood stage and its cause are unknown. However the disorder is the most common and affects both men and women. It is likely that people affected with dependent personality disorder have less trust in self thus affect their decisions, and can be caused by separation or loss of a love one. People who suffer this chronic ailment are likely to engage in abusive relationships, and suffer in length just to remain in the relationship.  People suffering from dependent personality disorders are highly passive and fear being abandoned.

Diagnosis and treatment

Treating patients with personality disorder can be done through psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy and develop a person through cognitive resolutions. This is by guiding the person on finding solutions to solve conflicts. It can be done as family therapy; ICO-10 medications and cognitive therapies aimed at changing or perpetuate histrionic behavior. However, personal mental disorder can to be occurring as any other disability affecting the brain resulting to an impairment and mental failure. ‎ Heather Castillo (2003: 97) states that diagnosis has been characterized by confusion and lack of agreement and fear emerging where courage is required.

This is a kind of mental health condition that a person suffer shyness or a long time, it makes one feel inadequate, sensitive and high parity to rejection. It generates in individuals as behavioral patterns and affects relationships and work. The disorder affects both male and female and make people to keep on thinking of their own shortcomings and formulates high tendency of fear, people who suffer avoidant personality disorder engage in relationships only if they perceive that they cannot be rejected. The cause of the disorder is unknown and those suffering from avoidant disorder are likely to prefer loneliness rather that engaging in relationships with others and avoid being criticized. However they hold strongly back to intimate relationships. 

Diagnosis and treatment

Diagnosis can be through avoiding anxiety or social phobia and it can be achieved by personally monitoring internal reactions when relating to other persons. In cases of irrationality where one is not able to control social phobia, the outcome is rejection which should be avoided. Conviction of social courage is vital to avoid fears of inadequacy, and make them believe their lovable. Treatment can be through social skill trainings and cognitive therapy. Persons can be exposed to group therapy to help build social contacts and drug therapy. To administer treatment' the vital element is building trust as people suffering from avoidant personality disorder might avoid treatment sessions in case they do not trust the therapist. John Livesley (2003: 114) stated that people with personality disorders as moral imbeciles; which means, people who from an early age display some permanent mental defect coupled with strong vicious or criminal propensities, on which punishment has had little or no deterrent effect.‎

Historianic personality disorder attacks people with high social skills at functional levels, this persons can be socially pleasant, professionals and successful. However, they suffer a tendency of secrecy which is used to manipulate others creating tension and making them the centre of attention. In relationships among couples, it affects the romantic relationships to the extent which one cannot relate or cope with failures and loses. People who suffer historianic disorder are not genuine and less empathetic and hesitate in the depth of situation where trust and durability is needed. Historianic disorder affects people to a level that they cannot identify personal circumstance in a realistic manner. They are likely to dramatize and exaggerate everything they do pessimistically. The cause of the disorder is unknown. However, it is believed to occur due to anxiety either by loss of a family, illness, divorce or genetically.

Diagnosis and treatment

Treatment such as the use of ICD-10 is based on patterns which are from excessive emotions that in return hurt a person in search of attention, at early adulthood it can be due to uncomfortable situations that a person give more consideration to. According to Heather Castillo (2003: 77), diagnostic used for personality disorders such as ICD-10 is basically due to manifestation on human norms, cognitive and affective behaviors which require control due to impulse need. It can also be improved by monitoring how individuals relate to others and handle interpersonal issues.

People suffer different personality disorders due to various norms, cultural believes and depressions. It is important to manage and avoid personality disorders by seeking medical attention, and social groups that help the brain nerves relax. People' suffering from personal disorder requires care and understanding to enable them cope with the situation. They require love attention and compassion.
