This may seem like a cringeworthy advice, but what I’m offering is not sinking your teeth into a frozen chicken breast. Remember those tomatoes that you bought weeks ago to cook pasta? Yeah, the ones which are now rotting in your fridge. Instead of feeling guilty for not having the energy to cook you’d better eat them raw. Tomatoes are delicious and require zero preparation! You can do the same with anything from carrots and cucumbers to more traditional bananas and apples.
2. Choose the Food You Enjoy
Food that is tasty and healthy at the same time does exist. The problem is: everyone comprehends tastes differently. Kale is the latest vegetable to become wildly popular for the reason that some people find kale disgusting. Try different foods, find out what you actually like, and then stick to it. After all, your main task is to keep your body fit and yourself happy.
3. Schedule Your Meals
College students rarely have nine-to-five schedules. Thus, you simply cannot stick to the schedule most people adhere to. What you should try instead is plan your meals around your classes. It really does not matter when you eat, if you do it at the same time every day.
4. Switch to Healthier Snacks
Yes, chips are delicious. No, you should not eat them every day. Snacks are important, however. They help us get a necessary boost of energy when we are feeling down. The list of snacks that will help you satisfy your munchies and keep up the healthy lifestyle includes baby carrots, apples and other fruits, canned soup, oatmeal, and granola bars.
5. Stock Up on Rice and Beans
Being not the most delicious products, beans and rice are perfect for college students. They are healthy, nutritious, easy to cook and dirt cheap. You can use them additionally for any dish or just make Mexican style soups and fries.
6. Remember that You Can Drink Calories too
Even if your diet is full of healthy organic products, it will all be for nothing if you continue drinking soda and other sugary drinks. You’d be horrified to find out how many calories they actually contain. Try water instead: it’s free, refreshing, and, most importantly, you’ll die without it.
